Telling partners without telling on yourself

If your test comes back positive, everyone you have linked as a partner gets a message telling them to test. Your name is never in it. Here is exactly how that works.

    You add a partner

    You create an invitation link in your profile and send it to the person yourself. We never contact anyone on our own.

    Both of you agree

    You agree when you create the link, they agree when they accept it. Two separate decisions, two separate records — because they happen at different moments.

    The agreement is recorded

    We store who agreed, when, and to which exact version of the consent text. If we later change that text, your old agreement still says what you actually read.

    A positive result arrives

    A result is marked positive for a specific infection. That is the only thing that starts a notification — nothing is sent for a negative or an unclear result.

    Partners are notified

    Everyone currently linked to you gets a message inside the site and an email. It names the infection and asks them to get tested. It does not name you.

    You can stop it any time

    Remove a partner in your profile and the link is closed, both agreements are marked withdrawn, and notifications on that link stop immediately.

Your name never leaves your account

The notification says that one of the person's partners has a positive result. It does not say which one, and there is no way to work it out from the message itself.

The email subject is deliberately neutral and gives nothing away, so a notification appearing on a lock screen in front of someone else tells them nothing.

This is not a setting you have to find and switch on. It is how the feature is built: your identity is never part of what gets sent.

What the message actually says

Two things: which infection, and that they should get tested. That is the whole content.

It does not say when the result came in, how many partners were notified, or how long you have been linked. Nothing in it narrows the field down to one person.

The same message arrives twice — once inside the site, once by email — so it does not depend on somebody happening to open the app.

Nobody is notified without agreeing first

A link between two people needs both of them. You agree when you create the invitation, and you see the exact text you are agreeing to on screen. The other person agrees when they accept it, and sees the same text.

Those are two separate decisions made at two different moments, and both are recorded separately. That matters if anyone ever asks on what basis a message was sent.

If we update the consent text, you are asked to agree again to the new version. Your earlier agreement is not quietly reinterpreted: it still refers to the wording you actually read.

How to stop it

Remove the partner in your profile. The link closes, both agreements are marked as withdrawn with the date, and no further notifications go out on that link — immediately, not at the end of some period.

You do not have to explain why, and the other person is not told that you removed them.

Removing a partner does not erase what already happened. Messages that were already sent stay sent, and the record that the link once existed remains — otherwise there would be no way to answer a question about a message somebody already received.

What we keep, and why

Your test results, the partners you linked yourself, and a record of each agreement: who agreed, when, and to which version of the text.

We keep a record of each message we send, too: to whom, by which channel, when, and which infections were named. That record is what makes it possible to answer honestly if someone asks why they received something.

What we do not keep is a link between the person notified and the person whose result triggered it, in any form a support agent could look up and read out.

When nothing is sent

A negative result sends nothing. An unclear or indeterminate result sends nothing either — an inconclusive test is not news anyone can act on, and sending it would train people to ignore the messages that matter.

Partners you have not linked hear nothing, ever. There is no address book import and no guessing who you might have been with.

And if you have no linked partners at all, a positive result is simply yours: it goes into your record and stops there.
